Ugly Babies

I think I’ve solved a mystery that has long haunted me…

I’ve never met a parent who would admit to having an ugly baby.  And yet, I’ve seen a lot of ugly babies.

Where do they come from?

They come from the same place that ugly-anything comes from.  Ugly advertising.  Ugly websites.  Ugly behavior.  Ugly attitudes.  Ugly clothes.  You name it.

They come from the Land of the Blind.  A place where we can’t see beyond ourselves nor beyond the present moment.  In the Land of the Blind, everything we give birth to seems beautiful, logical and perfect.

The interesting thing about this place is that no one knows they’re there when they’re there.  It is only in retrospect that we can even realize we’ve paid it a visit.

Until then, we can only cross our fingers and hope that time will be kind to our creations.
