Monsters and Magic

by Blair Warren

I have spent a lot of time on the phone recently with people wanting to talk about my position on The Secret and the Law of Attraction.

The biggest question I’ve been asked?

How can I be so against these ideas and yet also see some value in “magical thinking”?

Here is what I tell them…

I have loved horror movies all my life.  But I don’t believe in monsters.

Still, I enjoy these films and find great value in them.  They stretch my mind, speed up my heart rate and even encourage me to check the back seat of my car before driving off.

Not a bad payoff for spending some time with ideas I don’t believe in.

Same thing applies to magic and occult-type ideas.

I love to explore these ideas.  As with horror films, they stretch my mind, speed up my heart rate and even encourage me to check the back seat of my mind before driving off.

And the great thing is, I don’t have to *believe* these ideas to get value from them.

That’s why, despite my distaste for the first film, I look forward to watching The Secret II - The Secretrons* Strike Back.

* I wish I could take credit for coining the term “secretron” but I can’t.  That’s Cosmic Connie’s doing.
