Please shoot holes in these
Here are some of the more common philosophical arguments that have been made in response to my recent posts about The Secret and the Law of Attraction:
I don’t understand the ideas.
I am jealous.
I am a hypocrite.
I am negative.
I am stupid.
I can’t think for myself.
These are very compelling arguments, but they do not address the two main points I have raised:
1. If a universal law requires a universal loophole such as, “If it doesn’t work for you, you just aren’t doing it right,” it isn’t a universal law.
2. Selling a money-making-system for money and then pointing back to the money you just made as proof your system works is psychological sleight-of-hand. This doesn’t prove the system works; it only proves the system sells. And if any of this is going on, it deserves to be exposed.
Since we have already established that I’m a stupid, jealous, negative hypocrite, I’d love to hear what people think about the two points listed above.

Good points, Blair. And item number 2 is, I believe, an example of a logical fallacy called “a posteriori reasoning.” As a few people have suggested in some of the recent “Secret” discussions, it may also be helpful to Google “confirmation bias.”
Not that I am by any means a logical person or a consistently critical thinker, as some of those who are well-schooled in logic and critical thinking have pointed out to me. Besides, logic doesn’t even enter into the “Secret” madness. But I just thought I’d point these things out. (Disclaimer: I too am stupid, negative, jealous, adolescent, sarcastic, and some unprintable things.

I can’t get an answer to why people using the “LAW” of attraction, and believe in its validity as a law, are attracting all the detractors.
If it is a “LAW” does that make the believers all schizophrenic? This is a serious question and not meant to make light of mental illness.

I’m way too simple to be able to figure out how to get those people to understand that they don’t understand what a Law actually is or does.
If I could figure it out, I’d sell it and make $50 million like the sellers of this CD/DVD.
Maybe I’ll include a course as part of my new curriculum at JustActNormal U. about the Law of Universal Laws !
Maybe you could help teach that class, Blair.
Then again, if believing a Law exists gets people to take action ...

Hey Mike,
Did you see my post about the Law of EXTRACTION?
Here’s the url:

As for your last line where you said, “Then again, if believing a Law exists gets people to take action ...”
I’m all for that, unless the main action people are taking is putting their money in other people’s pockets.
From what I can tell, that’s the “inspired” action some of the gurus are talking about.

Hey Blair,
Yes, I saw it, as I never miss a thing you write. I’m stalking you ... you may have attracted me !
I agree with the addition you made about the action being sales.
BUT, the marketer in me is looking for a way to make my own extraction out of this.
When I find my own Secret way, I’ll guru the heck out of it and ask your forgiveness later.
That’s easier to ask for than permission ... isn’t it ?
