Before Crooked Wisdom there was…
Back in 2000 I was working on a book I was going to call Thirteen Ugly Truths About Human Nature. For a number of reasons, I never completed the manuscript. Still, this was the line of thinking that led me to create this website.
Until today, when I stumbled across an old box of notes, I’d completely forgotten about this project. But in going through these notes, I have to say I was pretty intrigued - even if I did write them myself.
The material is more pessimistic than what I’m writing today, but the underlying theme is the same: the real trick in life is trying to live an effective life in a defective world.
